Aether Reversion
System

An elegant, alternative mean-reversion trading strategy designed for ranging market regimes.

Used by quantitative traders seeking edge in non-trending conditions
STRATEGY OVERVIEW

A disciplined approach to
mean-reversion opportunities

The Aether Reversion System identifies high-probability participation opportunities exclusively during low-trend-strength (ranging) market conditions. By combining Keltner Channels for volatility-adjusted extremes, RSI for momentum confirmation, and ADX as a regime filter, the strategy avoids the common pitfall of fighting strong trends.

Key Differentiator
Why this strategy stands out
  • Uses Keltner Channels (more responsive volatility bands than Bollinger in many conditions)
  • Explicit regime filter (ADX) prevents entries during strong trends
  • Volatility-based stops and dynamic position sizing for consistent risk
  • Simple, robust logic — easy to understand and backtest
CORE LOGIC

Precise conditions for
high-probability entries

LONG ENTRY
Regime Filter: ADX(14) < 25 — confirms the market is in a ranging, mean-reverting environment rather than a strong trend.
Momentum Confirmation: RSI(14) < 30 — price is in oversold territory, increasing the statistical likelihood of a bounce.
Volatility Extreme: Close price is below the lower Keltner Channel (EMA 20 + 2 × ATR 10) — price has stretched beyond its normal volatility range.
Entry is executed on the close of the first bar meeting all three conditions (or the open of the next bar).
SHORT ENTRY
Regime Filter: ADX(14) < 25 — same ranging market confirmation.
Momentum Confirmation: RSI(14) > 70 — price is overbought.
Volatility Extreme: Close price is above the upper Keltner Channel — price has extended beyond normal volatility bounds.
Symmetric logic to the long side for balanced participation opportunities in both directions.
Stop Loss

Placed 2 × ATR(14) away from entry price. This dynamic, volatility-adjusted stop respects current market conditions and avoids being too tight during normal fluctuations.

Take Profit

Target is 3 × ATR(14) from entry, delivering an approximate 1.5 : 1 risk-to-reward ratio. Alternatively, the position can be closed when price reaches the opposite Keltner band or RSI returns to neutral (~50).

Position Sizing

Every trade risks exactly 1% of account equity. Lot size is automatically calculated using the SL distance and current tick value, ensuring consistent risk exposure regardless of volatility or symbol.
